If free download of antivirus is any good, why pay good money out for the likes of Mcfee or Norton?

Very good question and I would like to see other people’s answer to this one. I personally have AVG Free Edition because it is better than Norton or McAfee.
When I first got my new laptop just before Christmas it came with a 60-day free trial of Norton 360 installed but I still dumped it and got AVG simply because AVG is better, faster and doesn’t take up as much disc space as Norton. So that’s my answer.
You have seen the light
Because people will always pay for something. And many people are not computer savvy and know where to look for good free programs.
Norton and Mcafee are well known and at stores so people buy it. Salesman at stores push them to make money.
Because people are too lazy to search for free software because of all the stories about viruses from downloading stuff of the internet.
Also, its because McAfee and Norton and whatnot have partnerships with the computer manufacturers like Gateway, eMachines, and Dell.
AVG is ok….but sometimes it doesn’t pick up on everything that is out there because hackers and peeps who invent the virus’s are getting better at it every day. And personally I think both McAfee and Norton suck.
So I only use NOD32 when I can afford it….or Kaspersky.
because it is the assumption that the paid for item must be better than the free one.also with the paid you get support and probably do not with the free.alot of the free programs are bogus ! that said, i will never get Norton or mcafee, they = crap ! i did pay for cyberdefender, 30 $ for legit adware,spyware,antvirus,scam protection, e mail protection,safe site checker, all in one, with full support if there is a problem.
